Basket Care

Outdoor use:

As with all wood products, Longaberger Baskets need special care if they are to remain outside. If you plan to use your basket outside, we recommend the following procedures for extending the life of your basket.

• Treat the entire basket with a wood preservative that contains UV, fungi and insecticide protectorate. The simplest method is to use a deck sprayer when applying the preservative. Even after applying a preservative, we recommend bringing the basket in to protect it from severe weather, including extreme heat, rain or snow.
• To clean small areas lightly affected from soil, use warm water and mild soap to gently wipe the basket clean. Allow to air dry.
• For stubborn stains, use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser with mild soap to gently clean. Over scrubbing can affect the stain of the basket. Allow to air dry.
• Another method to extend the life of your basket is to avoid placing it directly on grass, soil or mulch. When using as a yard ornament, place bricks or stone under the basket.

Indoor use:

• As with all wood products, the basket is flammable, so use caution when using item in proximity to fire or strong heat.

Tip: Avoid carrying the Street Basket when it is filled to avoid injury to yourself and damage to the basket.
